Russian Doll season 2 is finally here and streaming on Netflix! The new season sees Natasha Lyonne return as Nadia for yet another twisty, metaphysical story, this time involving time travel. The only downside about the show is that it is relatively short, with season 2 only containing seven, 30-minute episodes.

Paul Rudd stars in this relatively short comedy-drama series about a man who undergoes a strange behavior and then discovers he’s been replaced in his life by a “better” version of himself.

If you’re into dark comedy shows like Russian Doll then Dead to Me is the perfect follow-up. Starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, Dead to Me is about a widow searching for information on a hit-and-run. She befriends an eccentric optimist in the process and the two find they have a lot more in common than they might have initially believed. The third and final season of Dead to Me is supposed to air later this year.

Before Russian Doll, Natasha Lyonne was perhaps best known for playing the fan-favorite character Nicky Nichols. While Orange is the New Black is very different from the dark comedy, you’ll want to check it out if you consider yourself a big fan of Lyonne’s.

Better Things is an amazing and underrated female-led comedy-drama series starring Pamela Adlon as a single mother/working actor Sam Fox. The show follows her as she tries to raise her three daughters in Los Angeles while also looking out for her mother, Phil, an English ex-patriate who lives across the street.

When it comes to twisted circumstances and toying with the metaphysical, there is no greater option than the anthology series Black Mirror, now streaming on Netflix.

If you found Russian Doll season 2 at all confusing then watching the German series Dark might help put things in perspective as it is famously hard to keep track of all the different threads taking place across multiple time periods. That said, Dark is still an excellent series and perfect for fans of Russian Doll or Stranger Things.
