Christina Aguilera: “It’s hard being such a powerful woman in the business”

These are photos from the Samsung Galaxy Note II launch party. Christina of course got paid to show up, so she put on her best ripped child’s t-shirt and paired it with a leopard pageboy cap, studded leather bolero jacket, black pumps and black leggings. (Under which she’s probably not wearing any drawers. I wouldn’t want her sitting on my couch.) This look works as a shocking, coherent whole. It’s like Jersey Shore meets circus hair and makeup. That’s how XTina has looked since she hit the scene, and while she’s had some brief moments of toning it down, that phase didn’t last long.
I was going to focus this story on Christina’s bad Ronald McDonald dip dye job which is somehow worse than the purple pink ombre dip she previously sported, but then I saw at least two other stories on Christina worth mentioning. We should talk about XTina’s hair first, though. In the past couple of weeks, Christina has had a purple and pink dip dye, and she’s done a pinkish and red dip. Both styles were not cute, in my opinion, but the pink/red hair was the least fug. (If you like bright ombre hair, that is.) Now she’s doing Ronald McDonald red! That’s so wrong. Somehow it goes with this look. It must have taken a lot of creativity to match that hair and avoid wearing bright yellow or stripes.
Moving on to the other stories about her, I intended to talk about this perfume ad in which someone has photoshopped her to look like a praying mantis, but Jezebel posted an update to their story that this ad is from 2010. So I’ll skip it. Instead we have Christina revealing her life’s ambition – to play a crackhead in the movies. Our friends at Evil Beet posted this. Christina also waxed poetic about why she acts like a diva – it’s all about how hard it is to be “a powerful woman in the business.”
“I do want to do more acting,” Xtina explained when conversation turned to her film, Burlesque. “I want to do something where I can really sink my teeth into something a little more challenging. Really outside of myself, outside of music.”
And Christina already knows what kind of controversial part she’s ready to take on.
“I sort of had this personal aspiration to do film, but I said, ‘I never want to do a musical! It’s too much like myself,” Christina recalled on her mentality before taking on the glitzy movie-musical costarring Cher.
After garnering fairly positive reviews for that role, she’s ready for a change: “I want it to be honest and genuine in expanding my wings and doing something really, really different. A crackhead on the street or a drug addict. Or something crazy and meaty and juicy. Something that really took me out of myself.”
And it might not be as hard for her to tap in to a dark side. “It’s hard being such a powerful woman in the business. I’m known for not always being, kind of,” she pondered before laughing. “I learned early on you can’t always be warm and fuzzy because you’ll be bulldozed right over.”
So Christina firing anyone that dares question her is all about asserting herself in a male-dominated business. Good to know.
Oh and there’s also this story about Christina calling Simon Cowell a dick, sort of. In a press conference, she said she’s never watched any other show but The Voice and added “I saw the commercials early on of American Idol of Simon being a di*k. I was like, ‘Man, that’s not what it’s about!’ We don’t have to knock people down.” Those of you who watch The Voice can clue me in – is Christina some great coach? I only saw a couple episodes last season and I got the impression that it was all about her and not the contestants.
