Keke Palmer has asserted that she is in her “big boss era” after her drama with her boyfriend Darius Jackson about her sheer dress at a recent Usher concert.

The Hustlers star broke her silence after her boyfriend Darius Jackson made controversial comments about her choice of outfit for a recent outing. Keke Palmer wore a stunning see-through dress at Usher’s Las Vegas residency and a sweet interaction between Keke and Usher was captured in a viral video.

The Alice actress had the time of her life at Usher‘s Las Vegas residency on Wednesday, July 5. The two were captured in a viral moment during the music concert and Usher surprised Keke with a serenade of his single There Goes My Baby.

The video captured many eyes on the internet and didn’t get unnoticed by Keke’s boyfriend Darius Jackson who had a short but assertive statement about the interaction of his baby mother with the My Boo musician.

In response to the video, Darius commented on Keke’s stunning sheer dress and wrote: “It’s the outfit (though)… you [are] a mom.”

Keke Palmer breaks silence after Darius Jackson’s criticism

Days after her boyfriend’s remarks, the Nope actress gave her first media interview and addressed the criticism about her bold outfit.

In an interview with The Cut published on Monday (July 10, 2023), Keke got candid about her motherhood journey and asserted that she is in her “big boss era” after the birth of her baby son.

“After having my baby, I’ve just gotten so much more powerful,” she told the outlet. “I’ll be honest, I think before I even had the baby, I was really actually quite self-conscious. In a way that you would expect, considering the kind of work that I do as a public figure – always trying to be on point with my body and always trying to make sure I’m taking care of this and that. There’s a lot of physical attention.”

Keke and Darius welcomed their first child together in February this year, a baby boy named Leodis “Leo” Andrellton Jackson. She confirmed her pregnancy during her TV monologue on Saturday Night Live in December 2022, telling the audience: “There [are] some rumors going around, people have been in my comments saying, ‘Keke’s having a baby, Keke’s pregnant,’ and I wanna set the record straight. I am.”

Darius elaborated on his comments

Following the massive online backlash about his remarks about Keke, Darius elaborated on his opinion on Twitter (as reported by The Independent): “We live in a generation where the man of the family doesn’t want the wife and mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others and he gets told how much of a hater he is.”

He added: “This is my family and my representation. I have standards and morals for what I believe. I rest my case.”

Putting the drama aside, Keke received hundreds of compliments from fellow celebrities and fans for her sheer dress. The Good Place star Jameela Jamil reacted in excitement: “The dress!” followed by fire emojis.

MTV’s Instagram page wrote: “Baby, this is Keke Palmer,” while another comment read: “YES MAAM!!!! You don’t criticize the mother of your children publicly. End of discussion.”
